Perivale Batting Proves Too Strong For PCC

Perivale ended up coming second in League Div 3, and you could see why today – hang on! How the hell do I know, this game was played last Saturday during the middle of our Tour!! Well actually, I am writing this at the end of the season because the true correspondent has a very busy schedule.

Anyway. PCC batted first, and we were looking good, even if the Broadfields pitch was producing its usual nightmares, and that we had been put very close to the fence (more of which in a second). Chris and Nick opened, and started brightly until Nick was sawn off LBW (we know all about Perivale views on the LBW law – oh hindsight eh Swaps?) Chris batted superbly for his 30, Britto looked good for his 20, and Doc unluckily ran himself out, after looking in good touch. However, it was our new player Steve Poole who was our star with the bat. He was simply awesome in smashing a 70 against a pretty good attack – one 6 over the close fence would have been a big 6 anywhere, and a simply ferocious pull - were breathe-taking.

Swaps chipped in with 18 (in between writing copious medical reports), and I fancy I hit the biggest 6 of the summer in my 12. So, 196 was a pretty good score we thought. Perivale however looked good with a bat in their hands right from the off. Added to this our bowling kind of struggled – far too many 4 balls, and some less than useful fielding.

We did make them work, but Perivale got to the target pretty easily. Maybe we were thinking about Tour, and the nights drinking, maybe we were in trouble (liver damage) from the night before. The fact is that in the return fixture at the end of the season we battled really well to get a draw out of the return fixture. Please see Pred’s excellent report.

Swaps, I just did this in 12 minutes, and I am busy too…..

Match Reports are very important, and everyone does them. They can also be really good fun to read – see Gillers and Scoops. Very funny!

Well done Mr Poole, your innings was excellent, we hope to see you next year – and at least the rest of the club know about it now, rather than it just being a number! (*and my 6!!*)
