Bowling first, on what looked like a green seamer with decent overheads, the ball actually did surprisingly little and runs came a little too easily for Dulwich’s talented left handed opener, sporting a taped up Surrey CC lid he claimed was from the under 14s…

We toiled away, Ritik bowled a lively spell, but it was old SLA merchant Dominic Scotch who managed to make inroads with his wiley array of F and G (flight and guile).

Sometimes the F is a bit too much F but full tosses can take wickets. Equally, sometimes the G means bowling half trackers that don’t bounce, and that can also take wickets… finally, regardless of whatever F and G you apply, if you’ve got James Barron at short cover and the ball is hit anywhere near him, that can definitely take wickets.

5 for Dom it was, fair play young man. Dulwich wagged pretty hard though and we were expensive, as they reached 220odd in their 45.

I won’t waste too many words on the chase. Only 3 slightly more valiant batters got anywhere near double figures and their opening bowler was maybe the most accurate and skillful new ball merchant we’ve seen in a while, ending with figures of 9-5-11-3… Fair play for his third team debut…
