Skippered by the Earl, Plough won the toss, elected to reduce the overs and inserted a rather rag tag Mitcham outfit who were “testing a few new faces”.

Despite not bowling, Greg Willis played an absolute blinder for our bowling innings. First, he chose a great set of stumps from the DSG to make us feel right at home despite being a good few miles south of Turney Road. Secondly he chose an absolute SEED of a new ball from someone’s collection at the G. Very pronounced seam + held its shine even in the wet + muddy pitch + big overheads = WICKETS!!!

Vikki, Gray, Daley and Aman all took advantage of these conditions, sharing the wickets between the seam bowlers as we wasted the oppo to finish on 69.

Special mention for leggie Elmo, for whom the conditions were less optimal than his seam bowling colleagues. Still managing to deceive the batters with flight and guile and picking up a wicket with a well disguised flipper that their best bat spooned up in the air to a gleeful Canelo.

Sandwiches shared and with half an eye on the 1s fixture - we set about a quick chase. Butlin and Hockins were the picks of the bats, playing with composure and punishing loose bowling to get us over the line with little to no stress on a very tough day for run scoring.

By 5pm we were racing to the G to celebrate a very successful day for the Plough. This fixture might not be the main thing we remember from this day, but I think we can all be quietly proud of how we comfortably dismantled our oppo with good humour and panache - a side who have been a thorn in our side in previous fixtures.
