Due to transport issues Grant had Max Wright complete the toss which he lost but happy with the Streatham and Marlborough decision to bat, we pushed the start time back to 1:15 and at which point we had ten. Not looking ideal to go out with 10 players and after an SOS sent out, Dan Rumford and Sons answered the call and made our 11. Great in for the team.
We had family and friends of the Plough down for the Cheer 11 and did they cheer and keep us motivated

Girody and Intersham stated us off, with the S&M players keen not to lose their wicket to their old friend Girody.
Girody got the early breakthrough and after 10 over S&M were 1/49.
Yours truly and Tom Glynn-Jones were then introduced to the attack, with yours truly picking up an LBW in my third over which saw the score move to 75-2 after 16, their number four came in and Whacked it from the start, not even a sighter as he dispatched the next two balls for six, this guy didn’t even know the meaning of a single as he proceeded to hit sixes and fours, I’d thought I’d moved the rope out quite a bit but the ground was still too small for him.
A couple of catches went down when this number 4 was on about 24, however we finally managed to get him out for 49 when he attempted to launch one into the residential homes that surround the DSG, the ball was up in the air for a long time and only a really good catch was going to dismiss him, never fear Giordy safe as houses steadied himself and took a beautiful catch which saw yours truly pick up his second wicket.

A new bowling partnership was introduced with Josh Redbull Kerr and Dan Runford and Sons, Kerrs cheers squad came to life as Josh came on for his first over and kept it tight and bamboozling the batsman with above the y flight, dip and turn. He was really giving the batsman something to think about and in his third over he struck, bowled, the batsman was completely stunned trying to work out how he had missed it and how it had bowled him and may have even had a Mike Gatting look on his face as he exited for the change rooms the Kerr fan club had really come to life and were shouting words of encouragement from the boundary rope, although now his tale was up a second wicket to Kerr this time an absolute one had screamer taken by Tom Glynn-Jones one handed diving backwards and it stuck,
During this spell between Redbull and Runford and Sons we saw the score go from 3-112 to 8/160 due to really tight fielding, a solid run out to Mcgun and really good fielding changes by our skipper.
Runford was the pick of the bowlers, bowling 8 straight, 1-14 including 4 maidens.
S&M finished on 219

We went into the Pavilion for tea, as always Jackie has done her best with fresh sandwiches and an array of sweets, I was told there were some wings and pizza today just not enough to go around for everyone.

Our batting innings began at 4:30 with Sean Mcgunn and Grant Wolledge opening the batting, was great to have Grant back playing again, Sean as always looked elegant from ball one with his first scoring shot being hit for four, this is where he took control of the batting innings and continued to dispatch the bad balls to the boundary,
Grant was out in the 6th over, the S&M batsman that was hitting sixes for fun could also bowl, as he bowled 5 overs 4 maidens 1-1 in his first spell, at this point the game plan was to see him off and attack from the other end.
We ended up being. 3 for 38 very quickly, which brought Max Wright to the crease still time on our side he supported Sean very well and turned the strike over which allowed Sean to manipulate the field and also continue to clear the rope and put the bad balls away.
At 5-108 and still needing 112 to win from 14 overs and Mcgun at the crease it came about supporting him and exactly what Tom Glynne-Jones did also with ruining their opening blowers tigers going from 5-4-1-1 to 8-4-2-15 Tom was a great anchor to Sean and helped keep him on strike continuing to attack, Sean brought up his maiden 100 for the club but didn’t let the celebrations get in the way as he continued to clear the front keg and attack as the run rate crept up to 10 an over and we were meeting it. Sadly Sean was caught on the boundary rope for 114 after a much needed partnership of 69 off 48 balls,unfortunately this left too much for our lower order to do and we were all out for 186.
Just check with John how many wickets Giordy took, we then shared in each others personal milestones and enjoyed a couple of jugs
