The Ploughmans this weekend had 6 games to play and 6 teams were fielded 3 on Saturday and 3 on Sunday. Which included 2 League teams and 4 friendly fixtures. A proud weekend for the Ploughmans.

You could say I was too keen and reached the ground 11:30am for a 12:30pm meet. It was a beautiful sunny day and the perfect weather for cricket or just to be out with people you love.

Sheen Park CC turned up with only 7 players and the skippers agreed we will give them 2 players while fielding. Toss was agreed and decided that Ploughmans will take field.

Benny Cobbett and Lewis Wilby started the proceedings their openers were watchful but played their shots and set off to a good start. The bowling was tight but they still scored runs at a decent rate and set of a partnership of over 80 for no loss. Damon and Hari Vignesh then first change bowlers also bowled some good line and lengths but the batsmen were determined and defended the good balls and put away anything which was slightly loose.

Niraj was brought on to break the partnership and did that with his first ball. The runs after that dried up a little and bowlers following him did a decent job which included Nigel from one end and Damon coming back from a different end. Benny and Wilby bowled the last few overs and Sheen Park got to a respectable 225 for 5.

In reply Ploughmans started very steady and solid both openers Stephen Britto and Leon Parks were watchful but put the bad balls away and soon raised up 50 partnership and 70 for none in not time with Britto getting his second 50 for the weekend. Unfortunately got out hitting it straight to the gun fielder that Damon who was fielding for the Sheen Park as they were short of fielder.

Benny Cobbett and Leon Parks then steadied the innings for a bit however Benny after a quick 14 odd runs hit a ball straight down to another gun fielder Hari Vignesh who was also fielding for the opposition.

After that a couple of quick wickets. Leon and Alex Jullienne studied the innings a bit however once we lost Leon it was a mini walking procession. However towards the end Lewis Wilby and Niraj Taylor showed some great courage and hit some quick fire boundaries to bring up the equation to 24 needed of the last 6 balls.

Lewis Wilby hit couple of boundaries and had the opposition worried bowever at the end we fell short by 6 runs. Not the result we were looking for however The Ploughmans will pick themselves up dust themselves down and Plough On again next weekend.
