- Skipper Max Wright lost the toss, and, beneath the intense early afternoon sun, was sent out to field.
- Vignesh and Bisi led the Plough bowling attack against two very aggressive opening batsmen. Bisi was unlucky in his first few overs, watching in exasperation as the opening pair sent multiple chances through the Plough corden.
- Eventually, a frustrated batsman found the safe hands of Barron (making his debut for the Plough) at midwicket to give Bisi a well deserved first wicket, and leaving Reigate on 28-1.
- A change of bowling at both ends brought Stevens and Stanley into the attack, both of whom struggled against an increasingly aggressive and settled pair of Reigate batsmen.
- A sharp catch at mid off by Vignesh broke the partnership, leaving Reigate 105-2.
- Skipper Wright's decision to bring Kerr and Anderson into the attack, and to take the pace off the ball, proved successful.
- After a few overs of spin the Reigate batsmen were struggling to find the boundary and the run rate dropped - Anderson struck first, clean bowling the Reigate number 4. A second catch from Vignesh brought Kerr to the party, which, a few balls later, was followed by Kerr's second wicket.
- A direct hit run-out from the increasingly handy looking Barron left Reigate reeling on 136-6.
- The final few overs saw the introduction of Barron to the attack and the re-introduction of Vignesh and Bisi. The Reigate tail wagged hard, and took their total to 246 all out.
- Special mention must go to Vignesh (1 wicket and 3 catches), and Barron, who managed to involve himself in 5 of the wickets (2 catches, 1 direct hit run out, and 2 off his own bowling)

- A weary and slighty sunburnt Plough left the field, relatively pleased with their efforts, and feeling confident that - on a track that had proven itself to have more in it for batsmen than bowlers - they could go at the run-a-ball rate needed to chase down to Reigate total.
- Reigate provided a classic tea (complete with homemade Victoria Sponge and Carrot Cake), which the Plough gratefully devoured, before preparing themselves for the second innings.

- Hanzi and Boughton to open up. Reigate, presumably having seen the success of the pace-off approach deployed by the Plough, decided to start with their dibbly-dobbler specialist. Hanzi, buoyed by memories of Saturday runs and full of intent, drove hard at the loopy first ball of the innings and was unlucky to be caught at mid-on.
- This, sadly, set the tone for the rest of the Plough innings. Wickets fell at an alarming rate, and the Plough limped their way to 64 all out in 13 or so overs. Only Boughton (14) and Barron (17*) made it to double figures.

- A disappointing result, but, as always, it was a delight to spend a sunny Sunday afternoon representing the best club in the world with a wonderful bunch of blokes.
