Ploughmans CC demolished Kingsman CC by over 200 runs, a number which could’ve been much larger had Benny Cobbett not sabotaged Plough by bringing a pink “red cherry” and fielding excellently for the opposition.

Ploughmans lost the toss and were put into bat, probably Benny’s fault too. After 29 overs, Plough reached 145-2 with Cake and George the wickets to have gone for 59 and 24 respectively. George making the criminal error of hitting it to their 1 fielder who could catch, that man again, Benny Cobbett.

That wicket, however, brought Harry Edmonds to the crease. This was a mistake. He scored 106 from 39 balls, a record for the plough and an innings that will love long in the memory of everyone who witnessed it. It even convinced Leo to attempt a leg side shot! Leo performed his opener role impressively despite having 2nd degree burns on his left hand, ending with a red inker having opened the batting. He ended up on 65* from, what felt like, 424 deliveries. Plough ended up on 285.

After a confusingly long tea break, we were back in the action. Wilbur and Puff were steaming in and bowling maiden after maiden. Cake dropped 1 at slip before Cobbett grabbed 1 at gully. Spencer and Aza then came on and continued in the same form, Aza bowling the opener and Spencer getting another caught by Cobbett at Gully. After 20 overs they were just 21-3, inc. 9 maidens.

Nigel and Webster then came on after drinks. Immediately, Nigel caused them some trouble, but Spence dropped a dolly to deny the star his 150th wicket and cake dropped a harder chance. When Spence then caught the next chance that went his way to get Webster a wicket, Nigel refused to celebrate (jokingly).

Eventually, Cake grabbed an outstanding catch from Nigel’s bowling and his 150th wicket was taken! Sadly for Cake this resulted in a concussion. Webster took two further wickets, Nigel took 1 before Cobbett got the last wicket vs 10 Kingsman to bowl them out for 72. A comfortable win for the boys in blue n yellow.
