It is easy to get consumed with frustration, disappointment and anger at the things we think went wrong particularly in this game gone by.

Nevertheless, accolades to the following:

1.⁠ ⁠A.Prasad - Our "rock of Gibraltar" when enthusiasm was faltering due to the onslaught of runs at the end of the 1st innings -> an emerging young leader and a pleasure to engage with on all things cricket development focussed
2.⁠ ⁠A.Paul - Bowled valiantly and brings a wealth of experience to the Saturday 3s
3.⁠ ⁠M.Khan - Much improved leg spin bowler in recent years and did well to dry up scoring in the middle overs 
4.⁠ ⁠R.Nair - Handy opening bowler and brings effervescence to the field when it's overcast
5.⁠ ⁠L.Parks - Anchored the run chase earlier on as opener and was unfortunately undone by the GCC web of seam and spin 
6.⁠ ⁠N.Ridgeway - Great to have him back after a long time and bowled very well complimented by a well constructed, "swim between the flags" cameo in the middle overs of the run chase akin to Michael Clarke charting a 1st innings at an SCG New Year's test match

1.⁠ ⁠H.Wright - Brother of Max Wright, Harry kindly stepped forward to play at short notice and offered some good off spin variety when the batters were getting used to "military mediums"
2.⁠ ⁠R.Mead - has come leaps and bounds over the last year and put himself in the running for wicket keeper of the year having saved at least 25 runs on a rather capricious wicket inc. 1 absolute half worldee on "5th stump"
3.⁠ ⁠N.Tailor - offered a refreshing variety of medium pace deliveries in the middle overs when GCC were in Southbank mode and ramping up to score 250+. Additionally, offered much needed boundary riding support inspired by a recent tribute video to the former Western Australian cricketing great Mike Hussey who turns 50* this year

As for the afternoon tea, kudos to Kerr and Paul for a collaborative effort to facilitate an Indian Premier League vibe which our skipper was salivating on pre game. The latter in particular, took one for the team, rising at 7am to cook up a chicken curry backed up by naan bread from a nearby restaurant. It felt like walking the Silk Road as "Puff" enlightened yours truly on the spice fusion methodology in between chats about the PCC journey during a car trip festooned with traffic jams, open roads, parking panic stations and a mesmerising entry to one of the crown jewels of Guildford - the main cricket ground.

Sincerest acknowledgments also accorded to GCC for their hospitality, conviviality and sportsmanship. Quite often when our run chase reached a quiescent state, a young player at 2nd slip primarily was more than happy to engage in banter with our batters and umpires which drew plenty of chuckles - topics worthy of a garden path or two just to keep things family friendly.
